Clear Lake Performing Arts Youth Orchestra

A local, small county, all volunteer music organization, Clear Lake Performing Arts, is “making it happen for the youth” in Lake County. Its Youth Music Education Program reaches many young musicians and offers a variety of musical opportunities.

The organization sponsors a county-wide Youth Orchestra and new this year, Junior Youth Orchestra, for very beginning students.

Clear Lake Performing Arts is celebrating its 33rd year. In addition to the Youth Orchestra, CLPA presents in-school programs and provides financial assistance for individual students based on merit or financial needs.
Advancing young musicians are invited to play with the CLPA adult symphony under the College Scholarship program. More than $80,000 in scholarships have been awarded to deserving students over the years.

Under the direction of Susan Condit, a teacher at Lower Lake Elementary, the students are working really hard performing outstanding pieces and amazing their audiences.

Condit’s goals include: bringing in new members, increasing the level of musicianship, providing a positive experience and preparing students to join the adult symphony. Since string programs no longer exist in the public schools it is necessary to provide the best possible program in a community setting.

The Youth Orchestra will be performing at the upcoming Mother’s Day Concert, May 8th, with the CLPA Lake County Symphony at the Soper Reese Theater in Lakeport.

Those who are interested in joining may contact conductor Sue Condit at 533-9431.
