Exciting things are happening at Mendocino College
18 students from Mendocino College have been accepted into: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz.
A new program Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) is coordinated through the college’s Career and Transfer Center. Its director is Candie Dickinson. Dickinson meets with students individually about their TAGs and also offers a variety of transfer workshops throughout the school year.
Seven UC campuses (Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz) offer guaranteed admission and a variety of programs to California community college students who meet specific requirements.
According to Vice President of Education and Student Services Meridith Randall “Not all high school students and parents are aware of this opportunity. For students who know which UC they would like to attend, but who cannot enroll at a four-year school immediately out of high school, this program allows them to finish lower-division requirements much more cost-effectively, then move on. A junior-level community college student actually has priority consideration over other transfer applicants.”
By participating in a TAG program, students receive early review of their academic records, early admissions notification, and specific guidance about major preparation and general education coursework.
