Lake County Schools are Up for the Challenge

Challenge Day presentations are scheduled for Sept. 20 and 21 at Clear Lake High School (CLHS) and for Sept. 22 and 23 at LLHS. Osborn said that adult participants are crucial for the success of the day.

The high-energy program leads participants through a series of experiential learning experiences that emphasize shared experiences among people from seemingly different circumstances. The overall goals are to increase personal power and self esteem, to shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the acceptability of teasing, violence and all forms of oppression. Adult participants will need to be on the LLHS campus from 7:45 a.m. until 4 p.m. No training is necessary,

Other than a morning check-in meeting. Lunch will be provided and comfortable clothing is suggested.
"Circle of Change" meetings, consisting of students and adults who support Challenge Day in their communities, take place at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at Round Table Pizza on 11th Street in Lakeport. The group has been raising funds and support to bring Challenge Day to CLHS. Donation jars have been placed at the Lake County Record-Bee, Bandbox and Catfish Books.

"Anyone interested in sharing ideas of how we can bring peace, hope and love to our community and/or want to support our local Circle Of Change, is welcome to join us," the organizer, June Wilson said. "We look forward to seeing you there."
