Peaceable Companions

With their tiny four legs and coat of fluffy snow-white fur, lambs have the same adorability factor as kitties and puppies, but, unless you live on a farm, it's harder to hang out with them. Enter the Hopland Research and Extension Center (HREC), which every winter takes families on a stroller-friendly, one-mile walk so they can take a gander at the newest members of their flock of sheep. After this year's walk, there will be a variety of sheep-related activities at the center's Rod Shippey Hall. If you'd like to eat during the activities, bring a packed lunch for your brood. The event will be held at HREC in Hopland on January 13, 10 a.m.-noon, and is $5 per person. Registration is required; sign up via hrec.ucanr.edu.
