Don’t miss the second annual KelpFest! Parade and Seaweed Spectacle celebrating the ocean’s kelp forests. Saturday, October 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the entrance to Portuguese Beach, Main and Heeser streets, in Mendocino. The parade travels through downtown Mendocino at noon, concluding with a 12:30 p.m. celebration and additional programming at Mendocino Art Center. Participants are encouraged to craft plastic-free, recycled, or repurposed costumes that honor environmental stewardship and ocean health. Parking is limited, so carpooling, biking, or walking is encouraged. Come celebrate community spirit, creativity, and the beauty of the kelp forest ecosystem along the Mendocino coast.
