ARISE

- Mendocino College Repertory Dance Company Fall 2019 Dance Concert

Arise - Mendocino College Repertory Dance Company Fall 2019 Dance Concert, Directed by Eryn Schon-Brunner. A Family Friendly Event!

In connection with the Phoenix Project, MCRDC will present five new dance works that respond to ideas of community rebuilding and recovery, loss, fear, and stress brought about by the disaster of wildfires. The dance artists, local and national, Julie Castillo (Willits, Middle Eastern Dance), Alex Miller and Lucy Wilson (BLiPSWiTCH Contemporary Dance Austin, Texas), Tony Valencia (DanzArts, Ballet Folklorico, San Diego) and Eryn Schon-Brunner (Contemporary Dance, California) draw on their art form to explore the concerns that arise from the ashes after the fires, creating their own personal phoenixes.

MCRDC will be joined by special guest Mendocino College concert choir. Artist director Eryn Schon-Brunner joins forces with MC Choir Director Janice Hawthorne Timm to bring choral music and dance together in two choreographic debuts. The thirty-minute work A Call to Gather will be set to Missa Druidica, created by local composer Joseph Nemeth and Phoenix will be set to Jessie Timm's, Fire Poem.
