Beans, meat, and heat are the basic ingredients of chili. But not all recipes are alike, and some results taste better than others. Local businesses will get the chance to showcase their idea of what makes a great chili—and raise money for a good cause—at the Chili Cook-Off. At this annual fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Ukiah, attendees will cast their vote for the best pot of hot stuff. The event will be held on September 6 at 6 p.m. at the Alex R. Thomas Jr. Plaza in downtown Ukiah. Tickets are $5–$10; children five and younger get in free.
