Piecing Together History

Jun 01, 2021 02:08PM ● By Donna Production
It took about 200 years or so for the American quilt to evolve from a utilitarian textile to a beautifully decorated art form. Some, like the 25 quilts in the Ocean Wave Quilters’ Iconic Mendocino Buildings project, even depict community history. These quilts, each of which depicts a local historical structure, will be among those on display at this year's Fort Bragg Quilt Show, “On the Fence.” The show is so named because the quilts will be hung outdoors, on both sides of the Veterans Memorial Building fence, at the corner of Laurel and Harrison Streets in Fort Bragg. The exhibit will be held on June 26, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and is free to attend. Some quilts will be available for purchase or will be raffled off. To get more information about purchasing raffle tickets, which are $5 each or 3 for $10, contact [email protected]. See oceanwavequilters.com/fort-bragg-quilt-show to learn more about the show.
