From 1947 to 2008, beehives declined 60 percent, according to US National Agricultural Statistics. Since bees are intimately connected with human food production, environmentalists and others want to bring back bees. With its Bumble Bees and Beneficials Field Day, the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens will be offering talks and demonstrations about bees. There will be displays and information from local ecological organizations, self-guided field exploration, bug ID, seed-bomb building, and storytelling.
